Quantitative predictive modelling approaches for the spread of infectious diseases: the importance of individual immune responses

School of Science and Engineering

About the Project

Mathematical models have been extensively used over the last century to make predictions on the spread of various infectious diseases. More recently, it has become very clear that differences in the immune responses among individuals impacts the spread of diseases. This project will focus on the development and investigation of new mathematical models to predict the spread of hospital infections, in the context of different individual immune responses. The models will be used to make predictions that can be tested at Ninewells Hospital in Dundee.
