About the Project

Science proceeds by increasingly precise measurements, and imaging is among the most prominent of measurement techniques. However, we know that we cannot make our measurements arbitrarily precise. In this theoretical physics project, you will study the fundamental limits of the precisions that can be achieved using quantum mechanics, and develop new techniques that achieve this level of precision. In addition, we will study the role of entanglement in quantum metrology and imaging, and perhaps shed some light on the foundational questions that still plague quantum theory. I am looking for an enthusiastic student with a theoretical physics or mathematics degree and a good fourth year undergraduate-level understanding of quantum mechanics.
