About This PhD Project

Project Description

Applications are invited for a PhD position in the quantum science and technology of semiconductor nanostructures. Our research is carried out in very well equipped laboratories (see https://ldsd.group.shef.ac.uk/) and seeks to observe new quantum physics and applications in specially designed and engineered nanostructures. Our research is based on III-V semiconductor nanostructures where we have world class fabrication facilities (http://www.nationalepitaxyfacility.co.uk/). The PhD project will focus on new quantum optical phenomena enabled by nano-confinement, including spin-controlled propagation of single photons, and game-changing modifications to spontaneous emission processes, all performed at ultrafast picosecond timescales.
