About the Project

The University of Sussex Business School is delighted to offer a fully funded, full time PhD studentship in the Science Policy Research Unit (SPRU). The preferred start date would be 20 September 2021, although a later start date can also be accommodated.

We are seeking an exceptional student with a Master’s degree from a leading university to study with our health care policy group within the Science Policy research Unit. The selected candidate with explore how organisations develop technologies for healthcare both in the developed and developing world, and what role science, innovation, organisational heterogeneity and policy environments play in their diffusion. This may include, but is not limited to, the role new technologies such as tele-medicine solutions and wearables, big data and other emerging information technologies may play in shaping improved patient outcomes. We are particularly interested in students that have an interdisciplinary research interest in addressing improved health care provision in the post pandemic environment, including the emerging ecosystems of population health surveillance technologies. The selected candidate will be part of a vibrant healthcare policy group within SPRU, the Business School and the University of Sussex, which have recently been successful with numerous major grants in a number of policy areas.
