About the Project

This project will focus on developing a decision-making tool for retrofit of buildings with heritage value. For the case studies, the PhD candidate will be required to develop an architectural, structural and mechanical BIM model of two buildings; conduct environmental assessment, explore occupancy patterns and conduct different energy assessment simulations using a variety of tool such as Design Builder, Enscape and Green Building Scenario. The heritage value will also be assessed from the views of stakeholders: hence, there will
be interviews with the stakeholders as part of the case studies.

It is aimed that the decision making tool will be developed to be involve all stakeholders during the decision making which will require tailored communication methods for each group. i.e. more visual tools used for non-technical stakeholders. The candidate should also be good in using some of the virtual reality technologies to be able to address this.
