Project Description

An exciting opportunity is now available for a PhD studentship fully funded by Dyson Technology Ltd, in connection with a current extensive research project on processing of precision polymer films. The research to be undertaken by the successful applicant will include a combination of experimental and modelling studies of key factors influencing precision film processing of complex systems, including rheology and process flow modelling. The research will be undertaken in the world-class Polymer IRC laboratories at the University of Bradford, as part of our research team, and with extensive interactions with Dyson Technology Ltd R&D teams.

Applicants will have or expect to receive a first degree at 2:1 or above in an Engineering or Physical Sciences related discipline. A Master’s degree is an advantage but not essential. Applicants with a background in polymer process engineering and rheological modelling are strongly encouraged to apply.

Funding Notes

The studentship is for a period of 3 years (36 months) starting November 2019 or at a mutually agreed time after that. The successful applicant will receive an annual stipend at UKRC rates (approx. £15,000 per annum) plus payment of their annual full-time home tuition fees. Applicants must be eligible for UK/EU tuition fees.
