Project Description

The purpose of the work is to develop novel chemometric (statistical signal processing) routines . MATLAB models of lifetime will be developed in state space and system identification routines will be adopted to de-embed the associated lifetimes of the target molecules using statistically robust criteria. This is a software based project only, focusing on chemometric analysis and algorithm development performed using MATLAB software. The developed software will be useful to the biophotonics community, studying de-excitation lifetimes from 2-photon microscopy experiments. Analysis of NADP and NADPH autofluorescence can provide estimates of inflammation levels in cell mitochondria due to a range of auto-immune system disorders including cancer.

Eligibility requirements: First class / upper second OR lower second with a Masters Degree in a relevant discipline
