Safety assurance methods for autonomous pods and cars
Urban shuttles or pods are last mile mobility solutions for urban areas. They are rapidly becoming commercially available for use in defined areas under defined conditions however there are very few safety regulations that place requirements on this class of vehicle and these are inadequate. There is a need to develop a new set of performance based requirements that covers the functionality, operation and cyber-security in combination. This will ensure that pods do not introduce new crash risks to the road and provide safety benefits to travellers.
Entry requirements Applicants should have, or expect to achieve, at least a 2:1 Honours degree (or equivalent) in:
