Self-funded PhDs in Sport and Physical Activity: Sports Engineering
About the Programme
We invite applications for self-funded, full-time or part-time PhD study
The Health Research Institute (HRI) is one of four Institutes set up to support growth in Research and Innovation as part of the University Creating Knowledge Implementation Plan.
The Health Research Institute acts as a nucleus for health and care research across Sheffield Hallam, providing support to research centres, groups, clusters and individuals engaged in (or wanting to engage in) health and care research and innovation activity. The Health Research Institute also provides an opportunity to link health and care researchers with research and innovation activity in the other Institutes and across the University.
The Sport and Physical Activity Research Centre is one of the largest sports and physical activity research clusters in the UK. Our expertise is delivered through four specialist groups that carry out internationally renowned, world-class research.
The Sports Engineering Research Group (SERG) is the world's largest academic group in sports engineering and an internationally renowned centre of excellence for research and knowledge transfer. The group's work is based on four research themes: applied computing, biomechanics, design engineering and active travel. In each area, researchers develop fundamental knowledge and deliver applied solutions to enhance athletic performance, reduce injury and promote physical activity.
