RESEARCHER PROFILE: First Stage Researcher (R1)

In the context of the IoT4WIn project, we search for an Early stage researcher to purpose his/her PhD under the topic "IoT smart framework and dynamic web platform for Integrated Knowledge Management in Urban Water Networks" .
The main objectives of the planned research is to investigate methodologies of connecting, integrating, updating, and managing heterogeneous distributed systems efficiently, including semantic annotations of heterogeneous data for automated discovery and knowledge-based processing to contribute to the technology development for building an IoT smart framework to support multi-sectorial decision making and information sharing to improve coordination among stakeholders for sustainable water management applications. Research activities will focus on smart interoperability frameworks to exploit heterogeneous sensor networks dynamically; and real time analytics with machine learning to support the dynamic web models for decision making. This position will be employed by Singular Logic, Greece, and be registered for PhD at Birmingham City University UK.

Benefits
Successful candidates will receive a three year, full time employment contract with Singular Logic Greece and will enroll for a PhD in Birmingham City University in accordance with the European Commission rules for ESRs. In addition to a competitive annual salary, the successful candidate could be eligible for a mobility allowance if they are relocating from overseas.

Eligibility criteria
Applicants of any nationalities are eligible and must comply with the European Commission, Horizon 2020 Guidelines mobility rules. In particular, they must not have performed their main activity in Greece for more than 12 months of the 36 months preceding the position. Early-Stage Researchers must be in the first four years (full-time equivalent) of their research careers, starting at the date of obtaining the degree which would formally entitle them to embark on a doctorate
Selection process

REQUIRED EDUCATION LEVEL: Computer Science: Master Degree or equivalent
REQUIRED LANGUAGES: English
A valid English Language qualification, such as International English Language Test System (Academic IELTS) or equivalent, with an overall score of 6.5 with no band below 6.0. must be submitted with your application.
Skills/Qualifications
 MSc or equivalent in Electronic, Computer Science, Control Engineering, and Electrical Engineering, Applied Mathematics or closely related fields and have knowledge of sensor technology and wireless sensor network, communication and IoT technology.
 It is desirable that applicants have relevant industrial experience and academic publication record.
