About the Project
PhD offer in theoretical ecology -- eco-evolutionary dynamics of plankton
The position:
The PhD student will investigate the potential of adaptive evolution to affect the response of phytoplankton communities to a warmer and more stratified ocean due to climate change. He/she will use modelling techniques that are commonly used in physics (moment closure approximations, reaction-diffusion) to solve eco-evolutionary dynamics of planktonic organisms moving along "fitness landscapes" (i.e. relationship between genotypes and reproductive success).

Summary
-The Institute of Marine Sciences @ Barcelona (CSIC) is looking for candidates to fill two job offers in computational ecology of marine ecosystems. The open positions are within the frame of a research project SPEAD, funded by the Spanish National Science Foundation. The project SPEAD seeks to simulate plankton ecological evolution (Eco-Evo) for the global ocean using the adaptive dynamics framework of trait-diffusion. Further details of the project SPEAD can be found here --http://www.oceanglobe.info/pdf/PPN-2017_SPEAD_Flyer.pdf
