Software Engineering Ph.D. or Post-Doc Position on Code Analysis Instrument for Microservice-based Enterprise Applications.

Project Description

This project looks into contemporary issues in Microservice-based Enterprise Application Design. It aims to find efficient instruments to deal with development and maintenance efforts in a distributed environment. It involves code analysis, management, control, etc. to bring new perspectives and opportunities in the Enterprise Application Field. The candidate will work on a project involving Microservice modules. The direction will include aspect-oriented software design, the design of aspect-weaver, parsers, code-transformations, automation, data processing, and decision making.

All successful candidates should have (or be near to complete) a master’s degree in Computer Science (or closely related fields such as Informatics) and a background in software engineering with experience in enterprise application design and development (academical background in databases, object-oriented programming, data structures, networking). The candidate should have programming skills ideally in Java EE, and be familiar with some of these technologies: Docker, AWS, OpenShift/Kubernetes, MicroProfile, Reflection API, javassist. The candidate will work in a team with graduate or undergraduate students and co-supervise them. Good writing skills are expected to publish research manuscripts with the supervisor.

Funding Notes

Qualified Ph.D. students will receive full tuition remission, stipend assistantship, and an 80% subsidy for student health insurance. Stipend levels are highly competitive (currently $2,000/month). Support is available up to 5 calendar years while continuance is dependent upon academic and professional performance each semester. Funding can be a mixture of research and teaching assistantships.
