About the Project

Extended aromatic systems are crucial organic materials and the general class includes discrete materials such as fullerenes through to high order 2D (graphene) and curved (e.g. carbon nanotubes). This is an interdisciplinary project that is led by synthesis. It aims to develop a novel approach to a new class of polyaromatic system. New catalysed cascade reactions will be developed, as well as polymer supported processes to allow automation of synthesis. The properties of the new materials will be investigated in collaboration with other expert groups.
