About the Project

We seek to recruit an enthusiastic, highly motivated student with proven intellectual and technical abilities to work on a homogeneous catalysis project.

The project is part of a prestigious large collaborative programme between Professor Wass, industrial partners in BP and Johnson-Matthey and academic partners in Cardiff and the University of Manchester, funded in part by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC).

The overall focus of this project the synthesis and characterisation of new and known main group or organometallic frustrated Lewis pairs and their homogeneous catalytic screening for CO2 activation and conversion.

Academic criteria

Candidates should hold or expect to gain a first class degree or a good 2.1 and/or an appropriate Master’s level qualification (or their equivalent). 

Applicants whose first language is not English will be required to demonstrate proficiency in the English language (IELTS 6.5 or equivalent)

Funding Notes

3.5 year funded PhD with full stipend and UK tuition fees only
This studentship is open to Home, EU or Overseas Candidates. However, Overseas and EU candidates should note that they will be required to cover the difference between Home and Overseas/EU fees each year
