About the Project

This PhD project will exploit recent advances in the group to investigate new porphyrin-phthalocyanine hybrids and their subsequent assembly into higher-order supermolecules. Phthalocyanines and porphyrins are each very well-known and heavily investigated systems. Hybrid structures combine the features of both parents, and are intriguing in their own right. However, investigation of these materials has previously been hampered by a lack of suitable synthesis procedures. In particular the project will focus on materials designed for applications in security and molecular magnetism.

Suitable candidates will have chemistry training to Degree level.

The PhD project may be available to start at an earlier date (January, April or July 2021), but this should be discussed with the primary supervisor in the first instance.
