  • Funded PhD Project (European/UK Students Only)
Funded PhD Project (European/UK Students Only)

Project Description

Plastics have wide range of uses and several advantages over traditional materials. However, the huge quantities of plastics that we are using is creating an environmental and economic problems. It is getting more and more important to obtain plastic materials sourced from sustainable chemicals as well as studying their degradation mechanisms to improve the recycling properties. We have reported a very detailed literature review (Polym. Chem. 2015, 6, 4497-4559) on the use of chemicals sustained from lignocellulosic biomass. This PhD project will focus on inventing new sustainable sources, functional polymers and discovering new polymeric materials with ideal thermal, mechanical and degradation properties that can replace traditional polymers.
