Testing and Optimsation of Medical Examination and Surgical Gloves

   Department of Mechanical Engineering

About the Project

Very few standard tests exist for assessing the impact on glover wearers’ touch and feel, decterity, hand fatigue etc. A greater understanding of these is becoming important as glove materials change away from the traditional Latex (for allergy reasons). The aim of this work will be to develop generic and applied tests for assessing glove performance, both using human test candidates and a new non-human test approach using a replica hand. The work will be supported by BMPloyco, the leading glove suppliers in the UK
