About the Project
Recent advances have allowed the creation of rat models of monogenic (single gene) causes of intellectual disability. However, little is known about how these animals perform in complex behavioural tasks. The current studentship, funded by the Simons Foundation, will examine the spatial memory abilities of three rat models: Fmr1-/y, Grin2b+/- and SynGAP1+/-. This work is part of a larger project characterising the behaviour and neural systems of these animals.
This studentship is held at the University of Stirling and the experimental work will take place at facilities in the University of Edinburgh.
Eligible applicants should:
· Hold a Bachelor’s or MSc degree in Psychology, Neuroscience or related fields.
· Have an interest in and experience with animal behaviour
· Applicants holding a Home Office personal licence are particularly encouraged to apply
