Prof H Houghton  Applications accepted all year round  Competition Funded PhD Project (European/UK Students Only)

About the Project

Applications are welcome at any time in the year for students with excellent linguistic abilities and an interest in the New Testament to pursue doctoral study at the University of Birmingham.

The Institute for Textual Scholarship and Electronic Editing (ITSEE) is a specialist unit in the School of Philosophy, Theology and Religion, creating and using digital tools to produce state of the art editions of the New Testament in Latin and Greek. Doctoral students work alongside members of the project team on a topic related to the overall editorial goals, such as investigating the biblical quotations of an early Christian author or writing, including investigation of surviving manuscripts and their textual tradition.
Examples of projects currently in progress can be seen at http://www.birmingham.ac.uk/research/activity/itsee/staff/index.aspx

Prospective students should contact Dr Houghton giving details of their interests and experience. Alternatively, applications may be made directly online using the link below

Funding Notes

UK/EU applicants to Birmingham may apply for fees and maintenance funding through the M3C consortium (supported by the AHRC and match funded by its members), whose deadline is in early January, and through Birmingham's own College of Arts and Law (deadline in March).
