About the Project

The Institute of Materials Chemistry, Research Area Molecular Materials Chemistry, is offering a position for a pre-doc university assistant for 4 years for 30 hours/week. The estimated starting date is March 1st, 2019. The minimum salary (level B1 of the Austrian Collective Agreement for university staff) is EUR 2.096,- per month/gross (14 times a year). Previous work experience relevant to this position can increase the salary.

Admission conditions: Graduate, Diploma or Master Degree in Technical Chemistry/ Chemistry or an equivalent program in Austria or abroad, a good command of German.

Further skills: The research priority lies on the development of new materials for electrochemical and photocatalytic energy conversion. We combine the fields of chemistry, physics and materials science as an interdisciplinary field of study. In particular, we are interested in the synthesis and characterisation of porous functional and hybrid materials, e.g. mesoporous inorganic layers or organometallic frameworks. The materials are characterised with a number of modern ex-situ and
in-situ methods, including X-ray diffraction, thermic analysis and diverse microscopic and spectroscopic methods. These materials should serve as model systems for fundamental studies on the dynamics and kinetics of solid-liquid and solid-solid interfaces. Another focus is on improving their efficiency and activity by appropriate modification and hybridisation regarding photocatalytic water splitting.

In addition, a high level of cooperation with internal and external partners is expected. Applicants are required to show the willingness and ability to contribute to teaching (especially supervising internships in German) and to conduct a dissertation.
