The Impact of Infrastructrue on High Technology Entrepreneurship

Entrepreneurship research shows strong evidence that infrastructures are a key force stimulating entrepreneurial activity and thereby drive growth of and quality of life in regional economies (e.g. Audretsch & Keilbach, 2004). To date there is little understanding on the contribution of particular types of infrastructure on specialized domains of high-tech-entrepreneurship, in particular infrastructure that is created to promote particular entrepreneurial activity like high-tech incubators. The aim of this project is to explore the role of specialized high-tech infrastructure on enterprise formation in a specialized domain for example biopharma entrepreneurship. The project can draw on an existing data-base on bio-pharma entrepreneurship as well as an initial collection of secondary data on high-tech-infrastructures.
