About the Project

There is an increase in women giving birth in a different country to home. This could have an impact on them and their babies in terms of health, access to services, maternity experiences and pregnancy outcomes. More research is needed to inform policy, practice and education to ensure migrant women receive the care they need.

A PhD proposal could focus on one aspect (or all) of the above- access, experiences or outcomes including addressing language and cultural barriers. It could focus on a particular category of migrant women such as women deemed as ‘illegal migrants’ or asylum seekers and refugees. It could focus migrant women in a particular country.

You will study within our Health Inequalities research cluster. Health inequalities links with the work of Bradford Institute for Health Research and the Born in Bradford Cohort Study, and houses public health research. Current focuses include identifying the causes of child ill health and developing and evaluating responses to them.
