Project Description

Osteoporosis; media
The media is a key social influence on understanding of health and illness. In the context of osteoporosis, a condition of fragile bones, the media have been blamed for the global decline in uptake of osteoporosis treatment; however, little is known about how osteoporosis is described in the media. This PhD aims to investigate the influence of media messages on perceptions of osteoporosis and make
recommendations for production of media outputs and patient health information relating to osteoporosis and fracture prevention treatments.
