Understanding how people using cochlear implants process sound for speech perception

Department of Clinical Neurosciences

Thursday, December 03, 2020 Competition Funded PhD Project (Students Worldwide)

About the Project

Cochlear implants have been proven to be one of the most effective interventions for restoring hearing for the people who suffer from severe-to-profound deafness. This cochlear implant works by converting acoustic sound information to electrical pulses which are sent to the intra-cochlear electrodes, that then directly stimulate the hearing nerve which starts the process of transmission of sound through the auditory pathways to the cortex.
