Understanding reward processing in adolescent depression

School of Psychology & Clinical Language Sciences

Applications accepted all year round  Self-Funded PhD Students Only

About the Project

In our research group NRG-lab.co.uk we are interested in the symptoms of depression in adolescents. We are interested in how to best measure symptoms of anhedonia and how we can possibly develop new treatments for it by examining reward function. We can use behavioural and neuroimaging techniques. Computational approaches can also be used.  A PhD in our lab will provide a firm grounding in behavioural and/or fMRI data collection and analysis with a view to achieving publications. You would join a team of undergrads, MSc and PhD students all working on reward related projects but you would also have scope to develop your own PhD ideas. We have exceptional imaging facilities and computing suites to undertake this work. The lab are also interested in psychopharmacological and psychological interventions and how these interact with the reward system in relation to psychiatric disorders.

Entry Requirements- BSc and MSc in a relevant discipline.
