About the Project

It is commonly agreed that building regulations and planning policies play an important role in reducing disaster risks; yet there is little understanding about disaster risk creation in the contexts where building regulations and planning policies are absent or poorly implemented. This project aims to explore how and when building regulations and / or planning policies enhance or hinder disaster risk reduction efforts in an urban environment.

Entry Requirements
Applicants should have, or expect to achieve, at least a 2:1 Honours degree (or equivalent) in a built environment related discipline, disaster risk management, or geography.

A relevant Master's degree and / or experience in one or more of the following will be an advantage: urban planning, political studies, disaster risk/emergency management.
