Use of surface textures to improve tactile perception

   Department of Mechanical Engineering

About the Project

Many human interactions with objects and surfaces rely on perception of the tactile interface. This could be when gripping objects with hands, or controlling walking movements through the physical feedback felt through the soles of the feet. This project will build on recent research to investigate surface textures and materials that could enhance tactile perception in instances where it may be diminished, e.g. though ageing or a physical interface such as a sock or glove.

Funding Notes
