Microorganism produces a variety of secondary metabolites which have been widely applied in agriculture, industry, and medical purposes. In this project, we aim to generate omic data such as the whole genome sequence of microorganisms, and to dissect the functional genetic variants between strains. In this project, you will be learning how to handle massive 2nd/3rd generation WGS data under Linux/Unix environment, and to apply novel CRISPR/Cas9 gene-editing technology to increase the yield of compounds of interest in microorganisms, including fungi and bacteria. This project cooperates with research teams at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU, Denmark) and Kaohsiung Medical University (KMU, Taiwan). Contact Dr. Hsin-Yuan TSAI ( [Email Address Removed] ) for more project information.
