PhD opportunity: Valuing the benefits of healthcare for people with Cardiovascular Disease

This is an exceptional opportunity for a highly motivated candidate with a background in health economics, an applied health field, or economics to study for a PhD at the Norwich Medical School, University of East Anglia (UEA).

The candidate will work closely with a multidisciplinary team of researchers with a shared interest in improving the lives of people with cardiovascular diseases, such as heart failure. The aim of this PhD project is to enhance our ability to measure and value health-related quality of life and other outcomes in cardiovascular disease. The findings of this PhD research will be used to understand and value the benefits provided by new interventions that are becoming available to help treat these conditions, from the perspective of patients and their families.

The candidate will be based with other PhD students at the Health Economics Group, Norwich Medical School. Some travel to meet with other researchers is likely to be required. The project will provide sound research training in a range of research methods including preference elicitation (such as the Discrete Choice Experiment), questionnaire development and administration, and statistical or econometric data analysis. An interest in health economics and health outcomes and previous experience with the management or analysis of quantitative data sets would be an advantage.
