In Vivo Verification of Proton Therapy: Derivation of Delivered Radiation Dose via Prompt Gamma Imaging
Dr T Pryer, Dr M Tindall
Application Deadline: 4 March 2019
Conventional radiation therapy uses high energy beams of radiation to destroy cancerous cells. These beams are not local and can affect the surrounding tissue.
New models of Outer Radiation Belt Dynamics
  Dr C Watt
Application Deadline: 21 February 2019
We welcome you to apply for STFC-sponsored studentships in the Department of Meteorology at the University of Reading. The Department hosts a vibrant Space and Atmospheric Electricity group whose research interests span the remit of Space Weather from the Sun through the heliosphere to Earth.
Origin and evolution of detailed structure in coronal mass ejections
  Prof C Scott

Rapid blood platelet analysis: linking micro-capillary assays to novel digital microscopy and smartphone technology
Dr CI Jones, Dr A Edwards, Prof W Harwin
Application Deadline: 4 March 2019
Blood clots allow us to recover from tissue injury. Platelets are small blood cells that prevent bleeding by clumping together to form clots.
Using machine learning to predict post-storage apple fruit quality with microbiomes, climatic and imagery information (Ref: CTP_FCR_2019_1)
Prof X Xu, Dr B Li, Prof X Hong
Application Deadline: 28 February 2019
The Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC ) have awarded a Collaborative Training Partnership (CTP) grant to a consortium led by Berry Gardens Growers Ltd and NIAB EMR.

Towards a theory for the surface layer of the ocean: clarifying the contribution of non-breaking waves to the observed differences between the oceanic surface layer and its atmospheric counterpart
Dr MA Teixeira, Dr A Grant
Applications accepted all year round
In this project we intend to clarify the contribution of non-breaking waves to the observed differences between the oceanic surface layer and its atmospheric counterpart, and to formulate a systematic description of its scaling properties regarding, for example, heat and momentum fluxes, as achieved for the atmosphere by Monin-Obukhov theory.
Son preference and sex selection: Diffusion processes and re-evaluation of policies in India.
  Dr S Dubuc
Applications accepted all year round
Amartya Sen’s seminal article ‘More Than 100 Million Women Are Missing’ in 1990, brought the topic of sex-selection against females to global attention and inspired academic work in the field1.
