The cultural history of translation is a new and vibrant area of research. This PhD with Dr Hilary Brown, Lecturer in Translation Studies and German at the University of Birmingham, will study the role of translation and translators in shaping European cultural history.
A project supervised by Dr Mac Carthy will focus on one or more of the keywords that played a crucial role in the making and remaking of Italian culture and society in the period 1450-1700 and that continue today to shape our evolving understanding of that time.
