Ecologists collect data on wild animal populations by a variety of survey methods and infer from these how the population changes over time through recruitment, survival, and movement processes.
We do not know how many snow leopards are left in the world. Snow leopard range country governments and scientists have launched an ambitious initiative to develop a robust assessment of the global snow leopard population within the next five years, and monitoring efforts will continue after that.
