University of Cambridge, 4-year PhD Programme in Cardiovascular Research

Applications are invited for the Autumn 2024 intake for the University of Cambridge 4-year PhD programme in Cardiovascular Research, funded by the British Heart Foundation.

Please note that only those classified as eligible for Home (UK) Fees should apply.

This exciting programme is an initiative to train biological scientists in cross-disciplinary cardiovascular research, combining formal training in molecular and cellular biology, physiology of model organisms, stem cell biology, human physiology, human genetics and genomics.

The first year of the programme comprises a series of seminars and lab rotations that are assessed for the MRes degree.

Successful candidates then progress to a 3-year PhD by research in a chosen group.

The programme faculty comprises world-leading researchers from the Schools of Medicine and Biological Sciences and the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute, who combine expertise in cardiovascular biology, stem cell and developmental biology, and human genomics.

Applicants will require a 2:1 degree or higher in a related biological subject. Support includes a stipend (currently £19,919 for years one and two, £21,542 for year three and £23,298 for year four), PhD registration fees at UK student rate, research expenses and some travel costs.
