PhD in Neuropsychiatric Genetics and Genomics

The MRC Centre for Neuropsychiatric Genetics and Genomics (CNGG) has 4-year PhD opportunities starting in October 2018. The Centre produces world-leading research into psychiatric and neurodegenerative illnesses, with over 20 internationally recognised principal investigators. The PhD scheme follows a 1+3 year structure, with the first year providing background training in a broad range of topics, including genetic epidemiology, gene mapping, bioinformatics, mechanistic studies and translational applications to human neuropsychiatric disorders. The core research areas are:

  • Psychosis and major affective disorders
  • Neurodegenerative disorders
  • Developmental disorders
  • Models and mechanisms
  • Biostatistics and bioinformatics
  • Neuropsychiatric imaging
