Our Engineering PhD graduates find highly paid jobs in industry, government and NGOs and across a large number of diverse fields, including research and development, technology, manufacturing, management and finance.

We have more than 50 fully-funded PhDs and EngDs on offer in Engineering for 2023 entry. With some opportunities available for an immediate start.

Scholarships are available across all seven Engineering Departments, and in interdisciplinary topics including Energy, Water, Urban Infrastructure, Artificial Intelligence, Bioengineering and Manufacturing.

At the University of Sheffield, our studentships have a standard registration period of 3.5 years. So you will be funded throughout your study, giving you time to work on your thesis while you are still receiving a stipend.

Some studentships are even longer, such as those offered by our Centres for Doctoral Training (CDTs) and CASE and ICASE awards, which offer studentships for up to four years.

Our prestigious Faculty Prize Scholarships offer a generous stipend (£2,500 per year over the standard UKRI rate) and £2,500 per year to cover research costs.

We have scholarships available for Home and International students.
