Fully-funded PhD positions in Materials Research

PhD studentship offer

A PhD studentship is open in the Materials Research Institute (MRI) at Queen Mary University London starting in October 2017. The MRI is offering a 3-year fully funded PhD scholarship open to all UK, EU and international applicants in one of the following areas:

- Nanostructuring hybrid perovskites for thermoelectric applications – the work will be conducted in Dr. Bob C. Schroeder’s research group and co-supervised by Dr. Oliver Fenwick. - Harvesting electrical noise with organic electronics – the work will be carried out in Dr. Christian Nielsen’s research group and co-supervised by Dr. Matteo Palma and Dr. Theo Kreouzis. - New hybrid systems for photoelectrochemical solar energy conversion – to work in Dr. Ana Jorge Sobrido’s research group and co-supervised by Prof. Magda Titirici and Dr. Russell Binions. The most suitable candidates among the three proposed PhD projects will be shortlisted for an interview with the MRI Senior Management Team, and one candidate will be selected. The successful applicant will be offered the PhD studentship to work in the project she/he has applied for. Please find below the studentship details:

  • Available to full-time Home/EU/International applicants.
  • Applicant required to start in October 2017.
  • The studentship arrangement will cover tuition fees and provide an annual stipend (£16,553 in 2017/18) for up to three years.
  • The minimum requirement for this studentship opportunity is a 2:1 degree (or equivalent) and an MSc/MRes in a relevant discipline.
  • If English is not your first language then you will require a valid English certificate equivalent to IELTS 6.5+ overall with a minimum score of 5.5 in all sections (Reading, Listening, Writing, and Speaking).
