Fulfil your potential: Fully funded Vice-Chancellor’s PhD Scholarships at Manchester Met

Our annual Vice-Chancellor’s PhD Scholarship competition offers fully funded PhD scholarships to the best and brightest researchers. These scholarships cover tuition fees (around £4,260 per year) and an annual stipend of around £14,777.

Prestigious scholarships

We are currently advertising four prestigious Vice-Chancellor’s PhD Scholarships:

• Tinkering research: A project blending education, mathematics, art and architecture. The project seeks to analyse in depth the tinkering studios found in museums, galleries, and other community spaces.
• Peers-in-common: Alternative art pedagogies and the success of the commons: A project exploring the social transformative potential of alternative art school pedagogy. The project explores alternative art schools in general, and the Islington Mill Art Academy in particular.
• Deep facial micro-expression detection and generation framework: A project aiming to develop a framework for automated deep learning facial micro-expression detection and generation. The project will produce a tool for end users to assess and monitor the behaviour of people with suspicious intent.
• An interdisciplinary exploration of the language of school exclusion: A project that aims to investigate and interrogate the language used by all parties when explaining, enacting, and coming to terms with, exclusion. The project takes an innovative and unique approach combining arts-based participatory methods (from sociology) and discourse analysis (from linguistics).

The deadline for these projects is 11:59pm on 14 January 2019.
