GLAZgo Discovery Centre & AstraZeneca BBSRC-CTP PhD Programmes
Applications are invited for this distinctive full-time PhD programme within the established GLAZgo Discovery Centre. The PhD training programme is tailored to develop research leaders of tomorrow who can seamlessly transition between academia and industry.
The programme capitalises on the expertise of the academic and industrial partners. Students will be immersed in a world-leading multidisciplinary research community at the University of Glasgow and AstraZeneca. This offers an outstanding opportunity for students to undertake outstanding project-based research training in immunology, molecular and cellular biology, matrix biology and stromal cell biology with application within the areas of respiratory, immunity and inflammation. The programme will offer a truly exceptional educational support, with maximal exposure to state of the art technology.
Successful applicants will become part of an ongoing and inclusive PhD student cohort and offered a choice of projects, and undertake PhD training with an internationally recognised group within the University. Students will spend time at both the University of Glasgow and the AstraZeneca Gothenburg, Sweden.
Applicants will normally be expected to reside (or have residency) within the UK/EU. Applicants should have obtained or expect to obtain a 2:1 or 1st Class Honours degree in a relevant subject. Support for the GLAZgo Discovery Centre PhD programmes includes an annual stipend for 3 years (4 years for the AstraZeneca BBSRC CTP PhD programme), PhD registration fees at UK/EU student rate, research expenses, general training funds, travel and meeting costs.
