Funded social-sciences studentships at the University of Nottingham with the Midlands Graduate School

ESRC Studentships October 2018 Entry

The University of Nottingham, as part of the Midlands Graduate School ESRC consortium will be offering fully-funded postgraduate studentships for October 2018 entry.

Applications are welcome from candidates whose research is situated within any of the 13 pathways offered at Nottingham. These cover a range of social science disciplines, from applied linguistics to sociology.

Eligibility

Successful applicants are likely to have a very good first degree (BA or BSc Honours or equivalent), at first class standard (or upper second class with clear evidence of first class work). Applicants for a +3 award will normally also have an appropriate Masters’ degree (at distinction or at least high merit level) and/or another appropriate qualification, such as prior, relevant work expertise.

Studentships are only available for students who meet residency requirements set out by the ESRC.

If you are currently in your first year of doctoral study (first or second year of study if you are a part-time student), then you are eligible to apply for a studentship to cover the remainder of your study time from October 2018.

The Award

The studentship will cover the full cost of Home/EU fees for a Masters’ and/or PhD programme, and an annual stipend (valued at £14,553 in September 2017). As part of your award, you will be able to access Research Training Support Grant funding to help cover some of the costs of training, fieldwork, travel and more.

How to apply

Candidates should complete and submit the online MGS application form. They must also complete a full admissions application for their chosen Masters’ or PhD programme at Nottingham.
