  • a systems engineer who can deliver energy-efficient power to our transport systems
  • a cybersecurity specialist who will ensure that data integrity is maintained in vehicle control systems
  • a digital specialist who can model traffic flows and performance of autonomous vehicles
  • a materials chemist who wants to build sensors into clothing
  • a visual design specialist who can help improve the look and feel of vertical take-off and landing vehicles without compromising function

Please look out for the opportunities we’re now making available.

Opportunities for PhD studentships in the Institute for Future Transport and Cities at Coventry University

You’ll join one of our well established research groups, collaborating with companies both in the UK and overseas. You’ll be part of one of the top-performing modern Universities in the country and building on a proud heritage of transport innovation and development in Coventry that dates back to 1843.

And you won’t be on your own. We’re establishing a Doctoral Training Centre that will have a strong focus on the future employability of our Post Graduate Researchers. Whether in academia, businesses or the public sector, we want you to feel part of a strong, supportive community that has your interests at heart, both during your doctoral studies and afterwards. We believe that a positive experience for our research students during their study period will create a strong community of alumni, from whom further opportunities for research, commercial activity and mentoring will arise.

This has particular relevance for the transport sector and its impact on city life, underpinning the rationale for the creation of our Institute. You will be encouraged to develop links with leaders in your field across the UK and globally, and we’ll help you to ensure that your research will have impact on our local businesses.

Interested? Then we’re interested in you, so look out for the opportunities we’re posting over the next few months and get in touch.
