Masters by Research in Ecology

Masters by Research in Ecology

The University of Glasgow is pleased to offer an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and enthusiastic student looking to complete a Masters by Research degree in Ecology and Environmental Biology. A 2-year, 50% part time Masters studentship is available, which will be based at the Scottish Centre for Ecology and the Natural Environment (SCENE) (@sceneUofG), the foremost field station for research and teaching in ecology and environmental sciences in Scotland and a part of the Institute of Biodiversity Animal Health and Comparative Medicine. SCENE is situated in the Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park, within a 1 hour commute by car to the main University campus. The studentship will cover all tuition fees and provide en-suite accommodation as well as a small stipend (a value worth £6000/year). The student will also have the opportunity to take on a part time domestic position at the research station to supplement their income during the programme.

Working alongside researchers, and other post-graduate students, the candidate will be able to pursue a freshwater, mammalian, avian, or vector ecology focused project based around their own research interests under the guidance of University of Glasgow researchers working at SCENE. Some required course work (e.g. analytical, software, and technical sampling methods) will be undertaken on the University’s main campus in Glasgow during the programme.
