MRC Clinical Sciences Centre, Chain-Florey Clinical Research Fellowships

Research at the MRC Clinical Sciences CentreSalary Range: £31,523 - £55,754 p.a. plus £1,505 London Allowance p.a.

The Chain-Florey Fellowship Scheme presents clinical trainees with a unique opportunity to study basic science supported by two world-renowned academic institutions, Imperial College London and The Medical Research Council. The scheme has a variety of PhD projects on offer which focus specifically on basic science rather than on clinical research.

You should possess prior laboratory experience and need to demonstrate the skill base and motivation to complete a basic science PhD as each Fellow is expected to complete a PhD within the duration of the appointment. Chain-Florey Fellowships provide an ideal base for those wishing to pursue a career in clinical academia.

The Medical Research Council’s Clinical Sciences Centre (CSC) is a world-class Research Institute closely linked to the Faculty of Medicine of Imperial College London, at its Hammersmith Hospital Campus.

With a strong ethos of bench-to-bedside medical research, the Institute aims to drive medical science forward through the study of the molecular and physiological bases of health and disease, cutting-edge bioanalysis techniques including sequencing, transgenic methodologies and PET/MRI. The Institute has a history of welcoming clinicians into its labs to carry out basic and applied research as part of their training.

Three such fully-funded places are available to successful applicants who are EEA nationals.

Each post will be fully funded for 3 years and the PhD is expected to be completed within this period, after which the post holder will return to their postgraduate clinical training.

As this post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974, a satisfactory (standard/enhanced/enhanced for regulated activity) Disclosure and Barring Service checkwill be required for the successful candidate.
