The Social, Genetic & Development Psychiatry Centre (SGDP) at King’s College London welcomes applications for several fully funded PhD studentships for autumn 2019, for either 1+3 or +3 PhD. There are different funding streams (including KCL and ESRC). Please see here for further guidance and to check your eligibility.

Programme 1

1+3 students will first undertake either of the full-time one-year MSc programmes offered by the SGDP:

1. MSc Developmental Psychology and Psychopathology
2. MSc in Genes, Environment & Development in Psychology & Psychiatry (GED PP)

Students will receive training across multiple research fields: molecular & behavioural genetics, twin modelling, statistical genetics, epigenetics, social and cognitive psychology and developmental psychiatry. Students will choose their research topic during the taught year of the programme after exposure to the disciplines researched within the Centre.

Programme 2

+3 students will already be familiar with the interdisciplinary nature of the Centre’s research and have ideas about an appropriate SGDP project and/or research methods. They will also usually already hold a relevant MSc.

Both programmes include continuous involvement in Centre research which focuses on exploring antisocial behaviour, anorexia and eating disorders, anxiety, autism, depression and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder using powerful analytical and molecular tools (EEG, statistics, bioinformatics, molecular genetics, epigenetics).

Applicants should indicate potential preferred supervisors.

International students may apply but should note that these studentships will only pay tuition fees at Home/EU rates. International students are expected to fund the difference in fees.
