As a research degree candidate, you will work closely with a supervisory team, consisting of a Director of Studies and normally one other supervisor based at the University. Candidates studying through distance learning may also have a local supervisor, based near the area in which they are studying.

Sports-Related Studies, including sports science; tourism; leisure studies and events management is in the top 6 institutions in the country with research rated as including ‘world leading’ activities at the highest levels of 4* and 3*. Art and Design, and Library and Information Management were also assessed to have ‘world leading’ research.

We offer a range of workshops through the Research Staff and Student Development Programme which will meet the needs of your Research Training Programme. In addition, we organise an annual research conference and networking opportunities throughout the year designed to support personal development in all aspects of research activity.
