AHRC HERITAGE CONSORTIUM Up to 14 FULLY- FUNDED PhD STUDENTSHIPS IN HERITAGE STUDIES

The Heritage Consortium (Bradford, Hull, Huddersfield, Leeds Beckett, Northumbria, Sheffield Hallam and Teesside universities) invites high-quality proposals for up to 14 PhD studentships tenable for three years from 1 October 2017. Applications are submitted to the Consortium. Successful candidates are admitted to the member university that has the most appropriate supervisory expertise, with specialist co-supervision provided by another consortium partner. All students undertake common cohort-based training in Heritage Research, and have access to facilities and research support at the other Consortium members and their network of heritage organisations.

The Consortium invites research proposals in and across the boundaries of the following subject areas, relating to Heritage:

  • Archaeology
  • Archives
  • Cultural History
  • Cultural Geography
  • Cultural Studies & Popular Culture
  • Economic & Social History
  • Heritage Management
  • Museum & Gallery Studies

The Studentships are open to Home or EU applicants, who should hold a good undergraduate degree, together with a Master’s qualification attained or on schedule to be completed, and/or equivalent professional experience. Studentships can be held either full-time or part-time. They include stipend (living expenses) at the UK Research Council rate and tuition fees, or tuition fees only, determined by the AHRC's criteria.
