 Funded PhD Programme (Students Worldwide)

About the Programme

The University Of Aberdeen School Of Psychology is inviting applications for fully funded postgraduate studentships (UK/EU fees + an annual stipend) leading to a PhD, starting in autumn 2016. Applicants may be considered for funding through the ESRC Scottish Graduate School of Social Sciences Doctoral Training Centre schemes. Candidates must hold (or be expected to obtain) an Upper Second Class honours degree in Psychology or cognate discipline as a minimum requirement. Further research experience would also be advantageous. A list of prospective supervisors and their areas of research can be found at http://www.abdn.ac.uk/psychology/postgraduate/potential-projects.php. Please contact potential supervisors while you are developing your application. The main research areas in the School are social cognition, perception and attention, and cognition. There is more information about the research topics, people and facilities in the School at http://www.abdn.ac.uk/psychology/research/index.php.
Applications must be submitted online by 5pm on Thursday 14th January 2016.
Applications must be made through the University of Aberdeen applicant portal: http://www.abdn.ac.uk/study/postgraduate/apply.php

Applications must include: 1) An on-line form completed through the applicant portal. 2) A project proposal, maximum length 1500 words (excluding bibliography) including the following sections: overview, context, methodology and impact. The project proposal is an essential component of the application and applicants should liaise with a member of the School's academic staff when developing their proposal. 3) Two academic references – please attach the references to the application or ask the referees to send the references directly to Emily Baird (contact details below). References should provide information about your academic performance and/or research skills, and suitability for postgraduate study. 4) A CV outlining your academic qualifications and research experience to date.
See http://www.abdn.ac.uk/psychology/postgraduate/how-to-apply.php for details of the application process. Informal enquiries should be addressed to Emily Baird (emily.baird@abdn.ac.uk).
