 Funded PhD Programme (Students Worldwide)

About the Programme

At the University of Edinburgh, we're looking for outstanding scholars to take up four studentships funded by the ESRC and the University of Edinburgh in the area of credit and labour market foundations in macroeconomics.

As a PhD student your research will be part of the ESRC large grant on credit and labour market foundations of the macroeconomy (2015-2020) led by Professor John Hardman Moore. The project includes nine other co-investigators from the School of Economics at Edinburgh together with international investigators from Princeton, Michigan, Rochester, Pennsylvania, Amsterdam and Stockholm. These co-investigators will help support you as you conduct research that will make a significant impact on both academia and practice.

Our doctoral programme
Our doctoral programme is structured to ensure that you receive training throughout your first year, focussing on the following areas: microeconomics, macroeconomics and econometrics and one other specialist topic. After the first year, you will focus on your research and the development of your thesis.

Our research community
You will join an active research community and participate in regular seminars hosted by academics of international reputation, workshops and discussion groups.

Entrance requirements
To be admitted to our doctoral programme, you must obtain a distinction in a recognised Masters degree in economics plus a distinction level at the dissertation stage.
All applications will be assessed on the basis of qualifications and research potential.
