 Self-Funded PhD Students Only

About the Programme

We are keen to supervise PhD students in the areas of Event Management and Event Studies.

We have an active research environment within the Event Management Group looking into the strategic, managerial, critical and cultural aspects of events with researchers publishing in all three areas. We have a diverse student body of over 750 UG and PG students, and over 20 event management academic staff.

We are generally interested in talking to potential applicants but particularly in the following key areas;

• Events as strategy to purposefully achieve short term outcomes and longer term legacy
• Events as experiences underpinned by the expectations and motivations of attendees.
• (Critical) Events Studies area relating to the psycho-social elements of events
• Evaluation of business event experience

This is not a funded PhD programme so students would need to be self-funding. Although there are potentially opportunities to teach, on our UG programme, and therefore earn during your PhD studies.

If you have related interest please contact Dr Phil Crowther (philip.crowther@shu.ac.uk).

Funding Notes

The PhD opportunities on this programme do not have funding attached. You will need to have your own means of paying fees and living costs and / or seek separate funding from student finance, charities or trusts.
