About the Programme

Description

Plymouth Marjon University invites applications from motivated individuals for a 3-year PhD scholarship in Language Sciences. The successful applicant will undertake empirically grounded, theoretically-driven, industry relevant and/or socially impactful research. The department that you will belong to is made up of academics trained in the fields of Linguistics, Experimental Psychology, English and Speech and Language Therapy. We employ a variety of tools and methods in our research and work with a range of groups, for example: monolingual and/or multilingual speakers; people with aphasia, dementia, Parkinson's disease, schizophrenia, cerebral palsy; atypically developing children; transgender individuals; migrant/refugee groups. You should have an interest in one or more of the following key areas: Atypical language development (mono- or bilingual children and adolescents); Speech, language or communication impairment in mono- or bilingual adult populations; Voice pathology; Language and cognition in bi- or multilingual speakers; Intercultural communication and health discourse; Language and well-being.
