About the Programme

PHD STUDENT EXCELLENCE AWARDS 2018/19

The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences is pleased to invite applications from excellent students with original research proposals for the University of Strathclyde Student Excellence awards commencing in October 2018. These awards will cover student fees (at UK rates) and a bursary in line with UK Research Council rates. You should have, or be expected to obtain, a first-class honours degree and/or a master's degree with distinction.

The HaSS Faculty offers high quality facilities within its purpose-designed Graduate School premises (https://www.strath.ac.uk/humanities/graduateschool/ ) and world-leading training through the University's PG Certificate in Postgraduate Researcher Development (https://www.strath.ac.uk/theresearcherdevelopmentprogramme/ )

We are able to offer five awards across the following subject areas:

• English, Journalism or Creative Writing, or History (School of Humanities)
• Law (School of Law)
• Counselling, Physical Activity for Health, Psychology or Speech and Language Therapy (School of Psychological Sciences and Health)
• Social Work or Social Policy (School of Social Work and Social Policy)
• Education (School of Education)

• In the "Programme Name", pleases select appropriate PhD study area.
• In the "Funding" section of the application form, please write ‘SEA Scholarship'.
• You should upload the following documents with your application:
1. 1500 word research proposal
2. A 2-page CV, including your academic achievements and any professional experience.
3. Academic transcript
4. 2 Academic References.
